SUPPLY CHAIN SEPTEMBER
SCM: Strategy to Implementation
"An Industry and Academic Perspective"
This month's topic will take a practical look at Supply Chain Management in organizations much like yours. If you have already, or plan on adopting an
SCM philosophy in the near future, then you must know that it requires organizational acceptance and support, departmental and supplier collaboration, a change in how various resources are deployed, and the availability of educated, trained and motivated staff. All this is occurring at a time when budgets are being slashed and organizations are being reduced in size. Many might argue that the only practical way to survive in this environment is to embrace SCM. however, how does one transition from what in the past had been a highly tactical function, to what has now become a strategic responsibility? The question is no longer price as much as it is value. How do we move off this outdated "gold standard”, to Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), outsourcing, developing strategic
alliances and then insuring successful implementation? Are you ready, better yet, are you prepared?
